During the day in Venice, the manic tourists flooding the streets from their cruise ships makes it impossible to "see" the city. After dark, when the cruise ships leave and the day tourists go back over the bridge to their hotels in Mestre, the city comes "alive." The sound of boats tied bumping along the canal sides joining echoes in the walls of the centuries of lives lived. Venice continues to evolve, people live daily lives in tandem with history.
