The Passenger - print

This painting started many years ago when I lived in Chicago. During a particularly dark and depressive time, I started this painting in an effort to get the darkness outside of myself. As I worked on it again many years later, I wondered which figure was me and which one I wanted to be. Stepping away from pain, what is known, is scary and hard. It's easier to accept pain when it's all you know. Is the smaller figure walking away or showing the way? The answer changes at least once a day, but the Passenger is always there.
